David B. Albo
Northern Virginia Attorney
Experience
For almost four decades, people in trouble have looked to Dave Albo to get them through difficult times. This is not only because of his vast legal experience in representing people charged with crimes (with 38 years in the field, Mr. Albo is not learning on the job – he has seen it before), but also because Dave Albo has strong community ties and treats the people who come to him as people and not as just “clients.”
Dave Albo has practiced law for 37 years. At the start of his legal career, he served as the Fairfax City Prosecutor for three years. (Once elected to the Virginia House of Delegates, he was no longer allowed to be a Prosecutor.) During his former career as a Prosecutor, he handled daily dockets of 30 or more cases, which ran the gamut of law: DUI, Assault & Battery, Disorderly Conduct, Driving on Suspended/Without License, Reckless Driving, Possession of Marijuana… the list goes on and on. Mr. Albo dealt with these types of charges each and every day he was in court – an intense way to learn the law! In addition to that, Mr. Albo represented clients in Northern Virginia Courts and Federal Court for serious felony charges, including Possession of Narcotics, Distribution of Narcotics, Embezzlement, Government Contracts Fraud, Malicious Wounding, Felony DUI, and Involuntary Manslaughter, to name a few. Mr. Albo estimates that he has handled over 10,000 cases in his career.
In addition to Mr. Albo’s vast legal experience, he is a sought-after lecturer for continuing education classes. He teaches Criminal, DUI, and Reckless Driving Defense Law, Recent Updates on the Law, and Alcoholic Beverage Control Law to other Virginia lawyers at leading Continuing Legal Education programs. Even national news media have sought out Dave Albo for his opinions on the law. Mr. Albo appeared regularly on national broadcast news programs such as CNN, Fox News, NBC, ABC, The Today Show, and Dateline.
Awards
A number of third-party organizations have recognized Mr. Albo. For example, he has been:

- Selected to the Washingtonian Magazine “Top Attorney Hall of Fame.”
- Selected 8 times by the Virginia Chamber of Commerce as “Legal Elite” in Government/Administrative Law.

- Awarded the state-wide “Leader In The Law” designation from Virginia Lawyers Weekly for his work as an elected member of the Virginia House of Delegates, where he is Chairman of the Courts of Justice Committee that writes the criminal and civil laws for the Commonwealth.
Community Service
Mr. Albo grew up in West Springfield. He has served as a guardian for abused children, as President of the West Springfield Civic Association, and as a Springfield representative on the Fairfax County Transportation Commission.
Mr. Albo served as an elected member of the Virginia House of Delegates. He was first elected in 1993 and retired in 2017. For 12 of the 24 years he served, he was Chairman of the House Courts of Justice Committee, which drafts all criminal and civil laws and oversees the selection of Judges. Mr. Albo was the longest-serving Chairman of that Committee in Virginia’s 400+ year history. Mr. Albo also served as a member on the Sub-Committee on Alcohol, Gaming and Tobacco, the Joint Legislative Audit Review Commission, and the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission.

This is considered a Class 1 Misdemeanor in the state of Virginia. Having something like Reckless Driving on your record is on par with having a DUI. This charge also carries a chance for jail time (up to a year). I was incredibly scared because I had never faced such a charge. And looking into Virginia Law, my speed exceeded 90mph, which is quite serious. I retained Dave Albo to help me with this case. Since my record was clean, Dave had advised I do the following before my trial. * Take a DMV Driver's Improvement Course * Take a Behavior Modification Course * Do 100 hours of community service * Print my DMV Record one week before the trial On the day of my trial, Dave got my Reckless Driving charge REDUCED to a regular Speeding charge. This was the absolute best case scenario for me. No criminal record. No jail time. No suspension of license. I did receive 6 demerit points and had to pay a fine of $250 (plus court fees). But that's a slap on the wrist, compared to what I could have been facing. Thank you Dave Albo for helping me through this ordeal!Posted on TomTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dave albo it's a fantastic lawyer. Dave was my attorney recently for a car accident where I needed someone to represent me in court. After exchanging all necessary information he reassured me when the court date came that there wouldn’t be anything to worry about. On the day of court a couple problems arose and Dave was able to rectify them quickly, told me everything I need to say if needed and when it was all over he got my violation reduced significantly. I hope to never go to court again but if I do I will being calling Dave again.Posted on Amanda StallardTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Retaining the services of Mr. Albo for traffic court was probably the best decision I made. He is very responsive to emails, knowledgeable, and punctual. He provided excellent advice that eased the panic of having to go to the court house and stand before a judge. I am very happy with the outcome of my visit to traffic court and highly recommend Dave Albo.Posted on Mark WestTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. David was incredible to work with from clear communication and next steps. To showing up to traffic court early to walk over all steps, making case in court as experienced/intelligent/well spoken lawyer. Lastly, he even followed after case in writing to confirm the outcome outlining everything that happened in lamen terms (in my case the best outcome we could ask for). I’m so appreciative to David.Posted on mitquinn88Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Absolutely top notch representation.
